Welcome to Earth Tones Pottery
Phantom and I welcome you to my website. I have four furry
friends who love to get their paws dirty, but don't worry,
paw prints are minimal.
Like many women artists, I retired from my "real" job which was teaching Special education to become a stay at home mom. Pottery became a business I could do from home and 25 years later, I am still happily playing with clay for a living. As long as there are "Law and Order" reruns to watch, I'll be throwing pots forever.
I concentrate on functional pottery and love to hear from a customer that they use my mug every day! I use a white stoneware clay body and my work is oven, microwave and dishwasher safe. I layer various glazes to create my colors. Most pieces are available with green, blue, teal or black as the liner glaze. The wood stove which heats my home is the source of the wood ash glaze which produces the dripping effect on the outside of my work. The glaze was developed by my husband Tom, who is also a potter. (Had to marry him for the recipe!)
Thank you for your interest in my work. I exhibit in 12 art shows each year so perhaps you've met me or even have some of my pottery. I also sell to 20 galleries across the U.S. I hope to hear from you. Please feel free to call or email me with any questions.
In case you love Irish music, I play Irish fiddle in a band called Gallowglass. Check out our music at www.myspace.com/gallowglassband
